Chenille, on the other hand, has a soft, plush surface that hides signs of everyday use well and gives a room a cosy feel. Velour works better in more luxurious interiors, while chenille suits places where comfort and practicality matter most.

Abrasion resistance shows how long an upholstery fabric withstands friction and everyday use. It is measured with the Martindale test, in which the fabric is rubbed repeatedly under a set pressure. The higher the number of cycles, the stronger the fabric and the longer the upholstery will last.

Chenille is a durable, pleasant-to-the-touch fabric with a soft, plush surface. Its characteristic texture comes from fuzzy yarns that give the material a subtle sheen and an elegant look.

Sofa fabric should weigh around 300–500 g/m², which gives it adequate thickness and durability. Weight alone does not determine how long a fabric will last, however, so it is also worth considering a tight weave and abrasion resistance.

The symbol 100% PES means that the fabric is made entirely of polyester. “PES” is the abbreviation used for polyester fibres, a synthetic material made from polymers.

Light fastness has been rated at 5. This is a very good result in terms of colour durability. However, the way the green shade is perceived may change with the time of day and type of lighting, so it is worth looking at the sample in your own home.

The weight is 430 g/m² with a tolerance of ±5% and indicates the mass of one square metre of fabric. Combined with the chenille texture, it gives a better idea of the fabric’s construction and makes it easier to compare with other upholstery fabrics.
