These fabrics perform well under daily and heavy use because they resist abrasion, stretching and minor damage. Additional surface protection helps guard them against stains, dirt and pet hair. Their durability can also be judged by the Martindale test, where a result of over 50,000 cycles indicates high durability.

The most frequently chosen upholstery fabrics include woven fabrics with a distinct texture, soft velours that are pleasant to the touch and thicker chenilles, which stand out for their characteristic plush yarn.

A good choice for sofa upholstery is modern velour with a water-repellent coating. This material is soft, abrasion-resistant and easy to clean, and thanks to its dense weave it also works well in homes with pets, as hair has a harder time embedding in its structure.

The most fashionable upholstery fabrics at the moment include bouclé with its characteristic looped texture, elegant velour and velvet, and retro-inspired corduroy. Materials with a striking texture, a three-dimensional weave and warm, natural shades are especially popular.

Velour stands out for its smooth, elegant surface and subtle sheen, although it can be prone to visible touch marks. Chenille has a softer, plusher texture, hides signs of everyday use well and creates a cosy effect. Velour therefore suits places where elegance counts, and chenille places where comfort and practicality are more important.

The abrasion resistance of an upholstery fabric shows how well the material copes with everyday use and friction. It is checked with the Martindale test, which measures the number of rubbing cycles under a set pressure. The higher the test result, the more wear-resistant the material and the longer the upholstery will last.

Chenille is a soft, plush and durable fabric with a characteristic texture created by fuzzy yarns. It is very pleasant to the touch, and its subtle sheen gives the material an elegant look.

A good weight for sofa fabric is usually in the range of 300–500 g/m². Material of this weight is suitably thick, sturdy and stands up well to everyday use. Its durability is also determined by the density of the weave and its abrasion resistance, however.

The label 100% PES means the fabric is made entirely of polyester. The abbreviation “PES” refers to polyester fibres, a synthetic material made from polymers.

When choosing a corner sofa, check its dimensions and which side the corner is on, as well as the type of seat filling, e.g. HR foam or springs. The upholstery fabric is also important, especially if there are children or pets in the home. If the corner sofa will be used for sleeping, also pay attention to comfort and how the bed mechanism works.

Fashionable corner sofa colours are currently dominated by warm earth tones such as beige, cream, caramel and brown, as well as deep shades including bottle green, olive, navy and burgundy. Cool greys are increasingly being replaced by more natural, cosy tones.

Dirt is least visible on sofas in medium and dark greys, graphite and mélange fabrics. Dark beige, brown, bottle green and navy also work well, as they effectively hide dust, pet hair, small stains and signs of everyday use.

Miscanto Ziemia Pustyni has a warm, earthy character inspired by the natural shades of sand and dry earth. It is a calm, muted tone that does not look completely flat thanks to the chenille texture. The final impression of the colour can change with the light, so it is best to check it with a sample in your own home.

100% PES means the material is made entirely of polyester fibres. When choosing upholstery, however, it is also worth looking at its performance parameters. Miscanto achieves 70,000 cycles in the abrasion test and a rating of 4–5 for pilling resistance, which gives a better idea of how durable the material will be in use.

Pilling resistance has been rated at 4–5. This is a very good result, meaning the material is only slightly prone to forming small bobbles and pills during regular use of the upholstery.

In the colour fastness test, the fabric achieved 4–5 for dry rubbing and 5 for wet rubbing. These values indicate very good colour resistance during everyday contact and rubbing of the surface.

Light fastness is 5, which is a very good result in terms of colour durability. The shade itself may look slightly different in daylight, evening light or artificial light, however, so a sample helps you judge its true character in a particular room.

Miscanto has a weight of 430 g/m² with a tolerance of ±5%. Weight indicates the mass of one square metre of material and is helpful when comparing fabrics of different construction. In this case, it is worth considering together with the chenille texture of the material.

Miscanto combines a chenille texture with abrasion resistance of 70,000 cycles, high pilling resistance and very good results for colour fastness to rubbing and light. The fabric is also flame-retardant, an additional parameter when choosing an upholstery material.
