A sideboard stores items you want close at hand but out of sight, such as tableware, table linen, documents or chargers, while its top acts as a display surface. The wide Sabi combines drawers and cupboards for this.

Not quite: a chest of drawers is built around drawers for clothing, whereas a sideboard combines cupboards and drawers and is designed for living or dining areas. Many modern pieces sit in between; the Sabi in this size has three drawers and three cupboards.

Start with one larger anchor, such as a mirror, artwork or lamp, then add smaller pieces in groups of three at varying heights. Leave some of the top clear so it does not look cluttered; on the Japandi-style Sabi, fewer objects in natural materials look best.
